2009 Grant Awards

Guilford Community AIDS Partnership

Guilford Community AIDS Partnership awards $225,000.00 in grant funding to eleven local nonprofit organizations in 2009. 
Grants support HIV/AIDS prevention, care and direct service programs in Guilford County.  Funding is made possible through collaboration with the Moses Cone Wesley Long Community Health Foundation, the National AIDS Fund, and the Elton John AIDS Foundation.  Funding awards for 2008 include:

America Red Cross High Point-Thomasville was awarded $13,814 to establish an HIV/AIDS Institute [prevention education program], Many Messages, Many Voices.
Bethel AME Church was awarded $2,500 to support a specific HIV/AIDS project.
Church of the Holy Spirit was awarded $5,000 to support the Many Men, Many Voices project.
Family Life Council of Greater Greensboro, Inc was awarded $20,000 to continue to offer their “Jovenes Sabios” HIV/AIDS prevention program to over 400 middle school males and high school students. 
Guilford Adult/ Health Serve was awarded $40,000 to continue to enhance lab testing and immunization of patients living with HIV and $10,000 to provide HIV/AIDS Rapid Testing.
Hospice & Palliative Care of Greensboro – Beacon Place was awarded $30,000 to provide residential end-of-life care for individuals with AIDS.
Nia Community Action Center was awarded $8,500 to develop Mahogany Sista, a prevention program for women involved with ex or currently incarcerated men.
The North Carolina African Services Coalition, Inc was awarded $5,000 to support a specific project for African immigrants.   
Piedmont Health Services Sickle Cell Agency was awarded $20,000 to continue the Linkage to Care Program that will locate HIV patients, assess their needs and link them to care services.
Triad Health Project was awarded $15,000 to support half time case manager professional and $25,000 for outreach at Higher Ground Day Center.
WOMEN,INC was awarded $21,000to support Diva Dialogue and RESPECT, an interactive support group program and $5,000 to Pilot a Youth Outreach program.
GCAP Capacity Grant- $ 4,186 for GCAP partners. A consultant will be hired by GCAP to work with Partner agencies on funding, financial management, program design, evaluation, strategic planning etc..

Guilford Community AIDS Partnership [GCAP] has awarded over $1.7 million dollars to support HIV/AIDS programs since its inception in 1991.
